For as long as I can remember, Disney has been part of my life.
Growing up, family trips to Disneyland weren’t just vacations—they were a tradition. My mom has always been just as passionate about Disney as I am, and together we spent decades collecting memories, souvenirs, and Disney treasures.
In 1987, we attended our first National Fantasy Fan Club (NFFC) convention. We had no idea what to expect, but it felt like we’d found our people. We discovered an entire community of Disney fans and collectors who shared the same excitement we did. By the time we headed home, our car was packed with collectibles, and we couldn’t stop talking about everything we’d found.
That experience sparked a lifelong passion for Disneyana collecting.
When Disney pin trading exploded around 2000, I was there nearly every Sunday trading with collectors at Disneyland. What started as a hobby quickly became a huge part of my life, and I spent the next 15 years immersed in the pin trading community.
One of my favorite projects was creating a fantasy pin called “Beware Pin Pirates.” Through PinPics boards, I traded that pin with collectors around the world. The goal wasn’t to collect pins for my collection — it was to gather a large variety of pins that kids would like. It didn’t matter if the pin they wanted to trade was already in the book or if it was limited edition. This kids only pin trading book encouraged kids to trade in a safe atmosphere where the only rule was one for one. I think this enabled sharing, friendships, and creativity. I continued the project until Disney introduced kid-only lanyards, which changed the trading experience.
Today, Ears to the Mouse is a way to share the collection I’ve built over decades. You’ll find vintage park souvenirs, pins, paper goods, figurines, jewelry, collectibles, and all kinds of Disney treasures that capture the magic and history of the parks and the people who loved them.
